New Orleans Wins NBA Draft Lottery

The New Orleans Hornets were the big winners last night in New York City for the NBA Draft Lottery. They one the number 1 overall pick for the upcoming NBA Draft to be held in late June. The last time the Hornets franchise had the top pick in the draft is when they were in Charlotte and they drafted Larry Johnson from UNLV back in 1991. This years top player in the draft is Kentucky freshman Anthony Davis, who was also the Player of the Year in the NCAA last season along with helping to lead Kentucky to a National Title. Read more…

Kentucky Wildcats 2012 National Champions

Congrats to the Kentucky Wildcats for winning the 2012 Men’s Basketball National Championship. The Wildcats beat the Kansas Jayhawks 67-59 at the Superdome in New Orleans. This is Kentucky’s 8tn National Title in the schools storied history. Freshman Anthony Davis was named the tournaments Most Outstanding Player. John Calipari has finally won the “Big Game” for his first NCAA Championship as a head coach.

March Madness 2012 – The Road to New Orleans

Championship Week has come and gone. Selection Sunday has come and gone. Now it’s time for March Madness to go into full swing. The 68 team field was unveiled yesterday evening. The number 1 seeds are Kentucky, Syracuse, North Carolina and Michigan State. The 4 play-in games will be played tomorrow night and the rest of the field will begin on Thursday and Friday. So get those brackets filled out and let’s enjoy the best that NCAA Basketball has to offer in the next couple of weks.

Look who’s number 1 once again and deservedly so. Kentucky finished the regular season a perfect 16-0 in SEC play running their record to 30-1 and more than likely the top seed in the NCAA Tournament. Now it’s time for Championship Week, conference tournaments kick off today with a ton at stake for a lot of teams especially those on the bubble. It’s one an done time and it doesn’t get any better. March Madness has officially begun.

The Kansas Jayhawks probably has the biggest win last week by defeating at the time number 3 Missouri Tigers in OT after being down 15 in the 2nd half. This propelled the Jayhawks into the top 4 of the rankings heading in to the last week of conference play. A lot is still up for grabs though, as all potential number 1 seeds for the NCAA Tournament there is about 6 teams fighting for the final 2. Right now only Kentucky and Syracuse are pretty much a lock for number 1 seeds. Of course all that can change in a hurry, once again all we can do it sit back and watch it all play out. I love this time of year.

Wow, what a week of basketball. Rivalry Week definitely lived up to the hype once again. The best nightwas Wednesday night where Syracuse took on and beat Georgetown in a highly defensive game. Then in the late game that night, probably the best rivalry in sports Duke vs North Carolina and of course they certainly didn’t disappoint. A close first half led into a 2nd half where North Carolina took a big lead. It looked like the game was over until Duke made the comeback. Then all of a sudden while being down by 1 Austin Rivers got the ball in his hands and the rest is history, a 3 at the buzzer and Duke wins. Another great chapter written in this rivalry, this win propelled the Blue Devils back into the Top 5 this week. Kentucky is still the number 1 team in the country. Well after another crazy week in NCAA Basketball, we have a new number 1 team in this weeks Top 25. The Kentucky Wildcats are the top team in the nation after Syracuse lost their first game of the season to Notre Dame in a conference game. Baylor also slipped out of the top 5 after taking a thumping from Kansas and losing to Missouri on Saturday afternoon. Another big week coming up as always in college basketball.
